Beauty with Brains

I work in an office with many beautiful girls. Unfortunately that is all they were blessed with.
I have an issue with good looking people relying on their looks to get ahead in life.

Then every now and then you get a beautiful woman who has the looks but she has the brains as well.

Que Bailey Schneider

Bailey is a DJ on 1 of Johannesburg's biggest radio stations - 94.7 Highveld Stereo
Bailey is super bubbly and she makes me laugh with her intelligent humour.
We need more role models like Bailey for the young girls of today.

I did a Uniquely Me with Bailey - I hope you enjoy it:

1: If you were a Disney Princess, who would you be?

Sleeping Beauty – she gets to catch up on lots of sleep – something I rarely get with my busy schedule. Plus she gets woken up by a gorgeous Prince Charming with a kiss. Yes Please. Where do I sign up? ;-)

2: If you proposed to your man - how would you do it?

I would create my own little Amazing Race and send him on a hunt to find me, I would send him to all the special places we had visited during our relationship and then finally get him to take a hot air balloon to a special romantic location where I would then ask him to marry me…. But in all honesty, I am an old fashioned girl who is hopelessly romantic and ultimately, I’d love to be proposed to instead!

3: Would you become a PlayBoy Bunny or a Sports Illustrated model?

A Sports Illustrated Model

4: What is your 1st thought when you wake up in the morning?

Need to get to gym and I need a good cup of Vanilla tea.

5: Blackberry or iPhone?

Blackberry all the way!

6: What inspires you?

Smiles, laughter, kindness, successful people and their stories, my mom, dad and sister and my amazing friends.

7: What is your favourite flower?

A sunflower

8: What is the oldest item of clothing you own and still wear?

My jeans and my jackets! I buy them so that they last season after season!

9: What is your most sentimental piece of jewellery?

A strand of fresh water pearls I received from my late grandmother and my Thomas Sabo charm bracelet I received from my parents – each charm (I’m still collecting) has a very special meaning.

10: What quirky habit do you have?

When I am ON AIR I cross my leg and swing my foot backwards and forwards. I’m teased all the time but I just can’t do a proper link if my foot isn’t swinging. Weird. I know.

Things I learnt on holiday

  • I am grumpy when I am feeling sick
  • I am super grumpy when I have not had enough sleep (from aforementioned sickness)
  • I am Super Turbo grumpy when I am feeling ill, not getting enough sleep and someone wakes me up, then comments, “Gee, you’re grumpy this morning”
  • I love boardgames – especially Pictionary & 30 Seconds
  • I wish I had more alone time with QT
  • I love the sea & watching the waves
  • Seasand down your bikini bottoms is not fun
  • 1 day of sunshine on the beach is better than nothing
  • Kulula.com makes me rethink using them again after both flights being delayed and my pretty, new, pink lock being cut off my bag.
  • Hair on my bikini line – pointless
  • Getting nookie while living in a house with 2 friends - difficult

Motherly Love

Mom & I - BTW: Mom is much prettier than this pic

Kate at The Cow Jumped Over the Moon told a story on her blog about her mom and how much she misses her and it made me think ....
I'm not very outspoken when it comes to love.
Like telling my parents I love them- I do- more than anything in this whole world.
But I don't tell them a lot, I find it easier show them.

Today I wrote to my mom on facebook and told her I love her despite the fact that she dropped me on my head when I was a baby and broke the wooden spoon by giving me hidings - which is all true by the way- and my mom came back with the following message:
Aaah thanks Bubs and I love you more than life... I'm so sorry I dropped you on your head BUT I'm not sorry I broke wooden spoons on you coz you're cheeky just like me and I didn't want you giving me a hard time like I gave Granny. Also look at the beautiful woman you have grown up to be that we are so proud of. Love you my rose bud XXX

Apparently I looked like a rose bud when I was born-  you could  see the roots of my eyelashes under the skin.
Mom called me Rose Bud and my dad unwittingly changed it to Bubs and that is how I got my nickname! :-)

What is my name?

I received an email today from a fellow Blogger and found out her real name! :-)
I suddenly realised that alot of people (like me) dont use their names on their blogs (for many reasons)

So for a spot of fun - I am interested to find out from you:

What do you think my name is?

Claudz - you are not allowed to enter! :-)

I won't reveal my name, but it will be interesting to hear your ideas! :-)

It's my party....

SwissTwist asked for it, so here are my party dresses......

The dress that started it all - my pink and chocolate halterneck with sparkles.

Been seen at:
  •  My friends 25th birthday party
  • A Christmas party 2008
Burgundy cocktail dress - see the black netting in picture on right

This is one of my favourites & it can be strapless as well.

Been seen at:
  • My 30th Birthday Cocktail party
  • A wedding in Nelspruit in 2009
Pink & White 3 quarter dress

I love his dress because you can dress it up or down and it is a very flattering style.

Been seen at:
  • My friends wedding 2007
  • The Woman's Prestige Awards 2008
  • AC's Bachelorette Party 2009
3 Quarter handkerchief dress from Morgan
I felt like Pretty Woman when Alex bought this for me, he took me to Sandton City and said I could pick any dress I liked.
This is also a very flattering style thanks to the ruching around the waist and the lovely handkerchief shirt.

Been seen at:
  • A cocktail party - 2008
  • A product launch at work 2010
  • A 21st birthday party - 2010
This was my first bridesmaids dress.
Bought it from Edgars for R450. It has a lace covering with beadwork and an open back - the A line shape is very flattering.

Been seen at:
  • My friend's wedding - 2005
  • A friends sister's wedding when I was the videographer - 2006
  • Afrikaans Music Awards 2008
  • A product launch at work 2009
This dress doesnt fit me anymore, but I keep it because I like it & hope that 1 day maybe I will wear it again..
It is a slim fitted black dress that has a slight almost "snakeskin" pattern in a velvety material.
It has an open back with some vertical straps and a slit up the back.

Been seen at:
  • A boyfriends year end function - 2005
This red sparkle halterneck dress always make me feel like a Hollywood star on the red carpet.
The colour is a deep red that darkens into a very dark blood red (seen slightly on the left side in the pic)
I get lots of compliments on it.

Been seen at:
  • The People Magazine Crystal Awards - 2008
  • A friends Year end function - 2009
The least favourite of all my dresses

The material was a shiny parachute type material that made me sweat so much in the Cape Town heat.

Seen at:
  • Wedding - Bridesmaids dress in 2008.
Red satin strapless dress with removable chocolate sash

Seen at:
  • Wedding - Bridesmaid dress for my best friend - 2009
Black & White A-Symmetrical dress

I love this dress - fell in love with it and decided not to buy it because it was a bit pricey, but couldnt stop thinking about it and saved my money and bought it.

Seen at:
  • Wedding - Bridesmaid dress 2010
Coming Appearances:
Our year end function - A night at the Oscars
Fashion Show in Greenstone in September 2010

Yet another stunning scene from Hoedspruit

Catch up of This is Me Photos

#16: A photo that has your favourite colour in it
I am sure you have gathered by now that I love Pink - this photo was me being funny because my hired dress for the 60s party was shorter than I realised.
But how stunning is the colour?

#17: A totally quirky photo
This is a tradition of mine - I love taking pics of people's feet and then we put the camera on the floor and get a pic of our faces.

#18: Your perfume/cologne
Princess by Vera Wang - and it comes in a heart bottle! :-)

#19: Your weakness
My kitty cats - I will do anything for them

Uniquely Me - Purple Lips & Perfect Smiles

Today I would like to introduce a Blogger who is quite new to the blogging community - but you would never say it!

This lady has a great variety of topics on her blog and a very upbeat outlook on life. I love reading her blog and I am sure you will too!

Say a Big Hi to Claudz at Purple lips and Perfect smiles

This is what Claudz had to say:

1: Seeing as you are recently engaged - tell us about your dream wedding?
I want a wedding where everyone has a memorable weekend! No standing around waiting, no running out of stuff. The band must keep playing all night (yes we want a live band in an ideal situation). We love our diverse friends and want them all to be there, for an entire weekend of fun, memory making, lots of laughter and plenty of photos. People must talk about the great spirit of friendship for years!

2: What made you decide to start blogging and what do you love most about it?
I've always wanted to be writer and I thought of the idea of blogging long ago. But I never knew what to blog about. Then I saw the first Photo Challenge (hosted by Krystal) and it just went from there. I love the sense of community! It's so much fun interacting with new, interesting people. I also like getting my thoughts out there.

3: If you were on deathrow - what would your final 3 course meal be?
Tough one as I would want all my favourites! I would want a sushi starter with plenty of salmon with a glass of ice cold bubbly. The second course, a beef fillet steak with a red wine jus and on the side, roast vegetables, roast potato and a big creamy pasta (hey, it's deathrow, carbs are ok!) and a side of Thai Green Chicken Curry. Dessert? Chocolate done 5 ways! Dark chocolate mousse with Amarula liquor, Chocolate and Strawberry tart, Chocolate Ganache Cake, Choc Chilli Fondant and finally, three way chocolate sorbet. After this meal, I may die from over indulgence!

4: If you were on death row - what would your guilty crime be?
Crimes against fashion!

5: Name your favourite cocktail
Mojito or Cosmo (if made without orange)

6: If you could live in any city in the world - where would it be?
Barcelona or New York

7: What is your all time favourite movie?
Reality Bites

8: Name 1 thing your boyf loves about you
That I said yes when he proposed! He loves my legs and my enthusiasm for travel

9: What would your dream job be?
Travel Writer

10: Jacob or Edward?
I love dogs so I will say Jacob.

I love this: Phew! Maybe edit question 3's answer to "anything and everything"

This is Me - Part 3

Hey all!

Sorry for the delay in updating - after 2 plane delays last night I got home much later than expected!

Part 3 of the photo Challenge is as follows:

#22: Your own photo of someone famous

#23: Your belly button

#24: Photo of your best feature

#25: A romantic place you’ve been

#26: A sunset

#27: A bicycle

#28: Cocktails
