Just say YES!

I've been pretty lazy posting a bunch of videos lately, but I have found so many gems that I just want to share with you!

Since watching Friends with Benefits and seeing how JT planned the Flashmob, I thought that was a pretty cool way to be proposed to.

Then I saw this video on Skinny Bitches (& subsequently stole it) and it reiterated the fact that there are romantic men out there.

This would be so much fun and I can just imagine my friends and family all taking part in something like this.
Except it would be a One Direction song.... the perfect proposal!

Another amazing cover by these 2 guys.

Watch them playing drums and piano simultaneously... together!

"We came, we saw, we parked. Now we're ready for the eats"

I love food, and I love secrets. Put them together and you have me more interested than a cat in front of a fish bowl wider than it's head.

By pure accident I came across a group called @thesecreteats on Twitter. Read their timeline and was excited.

These guys plan dinner events at secret locations with a secret chef. The venue is literally only revealed to you on the morning, along with the dress code and password. How intriguing!

Saturday morning we received our email informing us that dinner was to be held in Arts on Main in Johannesburg. With Missy Pie juggling 3 devices trying to get the correct devices we raced to our destination. Driving through Johannesburg at night time is not the safest (especially when you take the wrong route) but the town is so pretty at night, that it makes you realise that your city is a much bigger place than you realise.

The venue was Arts on Main - an arts market by day and our dinner venue by night. It was fun to eat dinner in a venue that nobody else gets to experience at night.

Our chef was Nikki Gibb (formerly the Westcliff Hotel) & our menu for the night was:

Starter: Asian cured salmon, micro salmon, ginger dust and lemon-grass spheres

Main: Pinotage-marinated ostrich mignon, sweet potato mash and raspberry jus

Dessert: White chocolate wasabi mousse with sake soaked lychees

Starter and mains were paired with a delicious wine and a shooter was served with the dessert

We sat opposite a very interesting couple; a fashion editor of Grazia magazine and her trader boyfriend. We had some good laughs and very interesting conversation, which turned to travel as usual. I am an avid traveller and every time I have a conversation with people and listen to where they have been and want to go to, it makes me so eager to go on my next travel adventure!

This is 1 adventure I am glad I took part in, I would have always wondered what I was missing out on. There were a few little touches that I would have elaborated on/done differently though.
  • No canapes were served while we were milling about upstairs drinking our awesome cocktails (served in a Consol jar - very cool)

  • For the price we paid I would have ensured that a sorbet was served in between meals to cleanse the palate as our meals were all different and for the caliber of the chef we had - a palate cleanser would have been nice. I was at a wedding once where a tiny dish (like the dishes you pour soy sauce into at a Japanese restaurant) with 3 little balls of sorbet no bigger than a marble was served. It was just enough !
  • Dessert was left untouched by a few guests. The wasabi taste was overpowering
  • They did not serve coffee and cheese to end the meal off ( for me coffee/tea is always a must)

Overall, I think it was a great experience and I am glad I did it. I hope they listen to their feedback, because this event could be even better with a few improvements here and there.

The gorgeousness of Stephen Amell

I've always complained that any series featuring a hot man should have more topless scenes. Seriously.
The dude spends all that time in the gym working so hard on his body and then has to cover. it. up.

Somebody heard my prayers - Enter Arrow

Oh my greatness this man is divine. I'm not one for blondes but  move over Paul Walker I'm in love with Stephen Amell!

He is a Canadian actor who has played in Vampire Diaries as the werewolf Brady

He is also 1 of the gorgeous male stars who's name has been thrown about for the role of Christian Grey....

He is ridiculously fit (he does 75% of his own stunts) and besides his perfect cheekbones and gorgeous lips, his blue eyes beckon to me.

I am so obsessed, I take photos of the TV because I just cannot let that perfection go without appreciating it with the click of my camera.

Feast your eyes on the beauty that is Stephen Amell & tell me your pulse did not speed up just a teeny bit?

Check out this short clip and tell me you don't want to start watching Arrow?

You're Welcome

Deep Breathe and Jump

I am really gob-smacked at how quickly time flies - and I am not even having fun!

I didn't get to finish the Blog everyday in May challenge and that is because of my birthday. I would like to say I celebrated so much that I am still recovering, alas, quite the opposite.

In the 5 years I have worked for my company I have had 3/5 really bad birthdays. I took a full day leave so as not to have a repeat of my birthday last year (I was late for my own plans and I cried on the way home)

Despite the good intentions, my 1st call of the day was my boss. Not to wish me (he had forgotten) but to ask me to do work. I reminded him it was my birthday and for the following response: "oh, happy birthday... so can you find out what is happening and let me know?"
After that 2 work colleagues knowing I was off for the day, still bothered me with unimportant work stuff that could have waited for the following day.

Instead of a fun day at mom's work having my hair done and being spoilt by my mom, I sat in tears in the beauty salon and cried in front of strangers.
I had wanted to make a big change, but in light of my high emotions, we played it safe.
I cut off 6cm, dyed my hair dark brown and added a few red streaks.

Mom then painted my nails with an awesome new nail polish called Liquid Sand. It's dark grey with flecks of red glitter. Once you get used to the rough texture, it's really funky.
I think my mom is more in tune with the latest fashions than I am!

The girls were quite sweet and arranged this for me:

I will never get my birthday back. It's ruined forever.
My mom was excited to spend a birthday with me having some girl time and instead she had to watch me on my phone and hand me tissues.

So I made a decision. A big decision. I will share soon.

But this is why I have not been blogging since 29 May.

I miss it, and I find it extremely therapeutic. I will still finish the Blog Everyday in May challenge... eventually.
