It's the Simple Things...

Blog everyday in May- Day 9: A moment in your day (this can be just a photo or both a photo and words)
I'm waiting for a friend to come over for lunch so I fluffed the cushions and sat on them to make them a bit flat.  Squeaky has been following me around the whole morning and decided it was his queue to have a nap on my lap.

Older and Wiser

Blog everyday in May-  Day 8: A piece if advice you have for others

Don't rush into relationships for fear of being alone or because you think someone can make you happy.
Not respecting yourself is a sure way to ensure that a man never will. And if you cannot be happy while you are single,  you will not be happy in the wrong relationship.

I walk the streets alone - forever?

Blog everyday in May - Day 7: The thing(s) you're most afraid of

Sounds silly, but every since I was a little girl I can remember crying myself to sleep at the thought that I would lose my parents.
It is the natural order for our parents to go first, but I shudder to think at how I will react when that moment comes. I am a strong person, but I am very afraid that I will just fall apart when this happens and I am not sure if I am strong enough to handle it.
Worse still, my parents stay on a smallholding with little security and my biggest fear is that they are murdered as is so common in their area.
I suppose I just need to have faith that they will be protected and live to a ripe old age whereafter they will die of natural causes in their sleep.

I am also afraid that I will end up alone. With nobody to share my life.
I wonder if unbeknownst to me, there is a flaw in my personality that makes men want me as a friend but not deem me good enough as a life partner? What is it about me that interests them initially but makes them leave me for better prospects?

From being engaged at 19 and realising I was too young for marriage, then possibly turning away the man who might just be "The one that got away" at 24, to turning down a proposal at 25,  I suddenly find myself all alone at 33 (34 at the end of the month)
What happened to all the men who were throwing themselves at my feet not so long ago?
Did I turn 1 too many away? Did they tire of waiting for me to sow my "wild oats"?

Phew! Who knew this would turn into such an introspective post?

Kate Middleton... the other one

Blog everyday in May - Day 5: Publicly profess your love and devotion for one of your blogger friends. What makes them great? Why do you love them?

I don't even remember how I met Kate, but from the moment I did, I felt as if we should be friends.

I used to do a feature called Uniquely Me where I did blog interviews in an attempt to introduce other bloggers to each other.
I featured Kate in September 2010 (boy time flies!), to read her interview, click here

Over the years Kate has disappeared from the blogoshere, much to my distress. Happily she is currently back online again and blogging quite regularly! (I threaten her often not to disappear again, I hope I may be scary enough that is is listening to me!)
I go for stretches at a time here I don't have time to read or post any blogs, but the moment I can find the time, I read Kate's blog first. Irrespective of whether her posts are sad or funny, I feel like I have caught up with a good friend. My soul feels soothed after reading her blog.

Kate is a lady. Her maiden name was Middleton, which is a funny coincidence because even though I have never seen her walking, I imagine Kate to have the same style and poise as Princess Kate.
My Kate is beautiful inside and out. (apart from her funny knees apparently
She is gentle and kind and has a heart of gold. I adore her sense of humour and it is on my bucket list to 1 day meet up with her (I think I should commit to the next 5 years - I give you fair warning Kate) and drink some wine, cocktails / both.

Before I sound like total stalker - let me sign off by saying this:

You are one of my favourite people Kate, never doubt the impact you have on people - as far as across the ocean!

That's what makes you beautiful

Blog everyday in May - Day 4: Favourite quote (from a person, from a book, etc) and why you love it

Asking me to choose my favourite quote is like asking a mother to choose her favourite child, so I narrowed it down to 3!

This is a cute reminder to never let things get so bad that they force you to lower your head. Reach out to the ones who are near to you and they will do whatever they can to help you overcome. (And I love it because my nickname is Princess)

This is a song line from 1 of my favourite bands, and because they are a boyband, I don’t think people realise just how beautiful the words really are.

They are telling all girls/women that they are special and perfect the way they are.

No need to say anything more on this one.

It's never too late to join in! See full list of challenges and the story behind it here.

Girlaphobic & other naked bits

Blog everyday in May - Day 3: Things that make you uncomfortable

Hugging girls. I'm Girlaphobic. I don't like the feeling of boobs touching boobs
Women (including friends) who breast-feed in front of me. Whether they just whip it out or do it behind a towel.... no thanks.
Being naked in front of other girls; and even my mom. I've always been this way and once even showered in a swimsuit for a week on leadership camp. I washed cookie at midnight while everyone was sleeping. I've always been self-concious of my body because of my wobbly tummy (story to follow in a later challenge)

The Secret to a great Orgasm

Bet the post title caught your attention!

Blog everyday in May - Day 2: Educate us on something you know alot about or are good at

I'm really good at a few things, but cannot use them for this post because:
  1. How to give a good massage: You need an instinct and strong fingers and wrists
  2. The other is X-Rated!
So I will go with my 3rd option:

How to make a gooood cup of coffee (and I do not mean using the Nespresso machine)

Put in your sugar and coffee and then add your milk.
Using your teaspoon, beat the living crap out of the mixture until it is frothy and bubbly.

Add the boiling water, a touch of cream, stir well and sprinkle with cocoa powder and a hint of cinnamon.

Oh.. and in case you were wondering...
Take a deep breathe in just as you are almost ... there.... (this will get blood flowing to all your nerve-endings and intensify your feelings as you topple over the edge)

Blog everyday in May - Day 1

I ramble alot.

I plan a blog post in my head, but when I get on here, I just babble until I get it all out of my system.

I feel like changing that. I enjoyed the times we used to do Photo Challenges, so now is the time to blog more!

I found this on Claudz's blog, who got it from Ellie Love who got it from Story of my life.

The "Blog every day in May" challenge

This way I can't ramble, because I have to blog 31 times this month!
Work has begun to take over my life again, so let's hope I can stick with this and get some balance back!

I have some catching up to do, so Let's Do This!

Day 1, Wednesday: The story of your life in 250 words or less

In 248 words - This is me:

I grew up financially poor, but emotionally rich.

I grew up living on plots, where the Milky Way and stars were commonplace. I played with baby geese, and cows and chickens.

I’ve run away from a charging bull, picked plums off our trees and eaten so much my stomach aches. I’ve swam in the reservoir pretending it was a pool and I have played with cars in a sand heap so that my brother would indulge me in some Barbie playtime.

I’ve painted doghouses and made bullets with my grandfather and learnt how to knit & bake with my grandmother.

We’ve gone on roadtrips through the Karoo – a family of 4 crammed into a Fiat Uno (no aircon) – to stay with family on a farm in Hermanus with no electricity.

By sacrificing all they could, my parents helped me become successful in my own right. I have just bought my very own apartment.

I feel guilty. They still struggle financially & I worry about them every day.

I became a city girl at 19, was engaged when I was 20.

Ended the engagement at 21 and since then have been searching for True Love.

In the meantime, I drink cocktails, I read a lot of books, watch way too many Series, work even harder in a job that challenges me & beats me down. I have strange dreams.

I blog and take alot of photos … for 1 day when I am senile.

My motto is: No Regrets

Once upon a time... The End

Recently I met a really nice guy

I loved his cuddles.
I love his tickles so much that I sigh just thinking about it
He "got" my sense of humour because he is just as twisted as me
He has gorgeous eyes
He gets that 5 o'clock shadow which I find very sexy

I don't see him for 2 weeks
I return from Japan
Our Whatsapp conversations are noticeably different
I ask why
He calls to tell me... He met someone else

The End.
