A Wrecking ball

....has hit me

Emotionally & physically.

I am an emotional wreck because:

*I have information overload learning all the new stuff at work
*Problems with QT - things have been very rocky with us and I am beginning to wonder if we are going to make it through or if this is the beginning of the end.
*I am tried of animal cruelty and abuse and I have decided that I want to do something about it.

I am going to make people aware of Animal Cruelty and I am going to try help organisations who love & care for animals.

My pick are the following 2 places:

Barking Mad & Kitten Corner

Barking Mad are friends of the dogs - you can help with doggie walking and grooming, food and all sorts of other things.
They have a great site where a click a day will give 1 bowl of food and it costs you nothing but a click of the mouse - think of it as finger exercise.

Kitten corner look after neglected or abandoned cats - kittens and adults.
They care for their special needs and help find homes.

Both worthy sites people!

I would like to start a collection going for the Woofs & Meouws - blankets, bowls and donations etc.

And here is something fun:

The Animal Race Fundraiser

What is it? The Animal Race will be an adventure style race designed with the specific goal in mind of raising money for various animal welfare organizations. Many people will be aware of the television program ‘The Amazing Race’, in which teams compete with one another by traveling around various areas finding clues whilst being timed. The Animal Race will follow the same concept but will obviously be kept to a smaller area, namely the North/North West suburbs of Johannesburg. Contestants will be allowed to enter teams (minimal number of 2 people, maximum number of 5) The entrance fee will all be donated and equally split between the welfare organizations involved in this event.
Animal abuse is rife in South Africa, and as many of us know there are literally hundreds of animals euthenized on a daily basis due to neglect, abuse or simply having no place to call home. This event is being held to both raise awareness of the severity of the problem, as well as to contribute financially to some of the many welfare organizations doing phenomenal work to try alleviate the problem. The Animal Race will therefore be an event that as well as providing fun filled entertainment, will also contribute to a really good cause.
Involve your families, your company and all you know – come and join us for a day in the great outdoors giving back to those who work so tirelessly all year round to save the lives of thousands of animals.

Where it will ? The event will start and end at Walkhaven Dog Park in Muldersdrift – Walkhaven is currently the only specialist Dog park in Johannesburg and loved by all who frequent it. Registration will take place between 07.30 and 09.00 am on the morning of the 6 November 2010.

We will be staggering the start times of the race in ten minute intervals, with the first team leaving at 10.00 am. The winner will be the team who completes the race in the shortest time period – there will be no way to duck the system as marshals will be stationed at each point to log in teams arrival and departure times, as well as provide the next clue. Should your team not be logged in and out they will be disqualified – it’s up to the team to ensure this is done.

Pricing? Team of 2:R90 per team member Team of 3: R80 per team member Team of 4: R 70 per team member Team of 5: R60 per team member

*Warning - not for sensitive readers*..... People who kill animals....

... Make me Sick!

I have just watched a documentary on National Geographic where a hunter killed what he thought was a Polar bear.
Then when authorities wanted to arrest him because the animal he killed in cold blood turned out not to be a Polar bear - he was extremely angry.

Um... HELLO??

I do not condone hunting. I detest it

It makes me sad, & if I stop to think about it, I get so angry I find myself shaking.

I lose respect for the person that can aim and fire with the intent of killing a creature that never harmed them. Then to make it worse, they stand next to the animal with 1 foot on the corpse and a big fat stupid grin on their face.

What started as a tirade - has suddenly become a full on attack on abusers out there.

I warn you not to go further if you do not want to see the most disgusting pictures of animal abuse.

If I ever win the Lotto in a big way - the 1st thing I am going to do is set up a mafia type network - we will hunt down poachers, and animal abusers of all kinds & "professional" hunters and I will ensure they are never seen again. The lot useless of them.

Companies that practice Vivisection - in this day age there is no need for such cruelty.
It brings tears to my eyes that humans would do such a thing!!!

While searching for a picture to use - this was the 1st one I found and I honestly can't go on looking. I am balling my eyes out as we speak:

Example of testing on animals

I abhor vivisection. It should at least be curbed. Better it should be abolished. I know of no achievement through vivisection, no scientific discovery that could not have been obtained without such barbarism and cruelty. The whole thing is evil.— Charles W. Mayo, MD (son of the co-founder of the Mayo Clinic)

I am not interested to know whether vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't...The pain which it inflicts upon unconsenting animals is the basis of my enmity toward it, and it is to me sufficient justification of the enmity without looking further."-Mark Twain

I cannot understand how a person can hurt an animal!

We can all make that little bit of difference - here are some of the Companies who still practice Vivisection:

Johnson & Johnson (Acuvue contact lenses, Neutrogena, Listerine)
Ponds
Clairol
Colgate - Palmolive
Max Factor
Pantene

For the complete list, go HERE

The good news is that The Body Shop, Revlon, M*A*C and Estee Lauder don't test on animals!

I know I will be changing alot of my products!

I won't go to Spain because of Bullfighting.

Check out this disgusting practice:

Bonsai Kitties, kittens forced into jars & kept there!!!  WTF??

"After 1 month skull will attain complete conformity to flat surface resulting in the desirable "bonsai kitty" expression.

The best solution is to seal the kitten's anus with Super Glue prior to insertion, and then insert a waste tube through a third whole in the vessel. As the kitten's body is still developing, a natural rectal diverticulum will soon form around the tube, which can be drained in any convenient fashion. It's just like a kitty colostomy bag!"

I have a message for all you animal abusers out there:

You are losers & an embarrassment to all humanity - and if ever given the opportunity, I would think nothing of pulling the trigger on you.

That way I save God's creatures from you.

If you are Pro-animal abuse (of any kind) - don't bother trying to defend your actions - I don't care.

Jetsetter!!

I leave tomorrow morning for Cape Town.
I officially begin my training on the products that I know nothing about.
And work in the Stores as a stock picker.
I am not too keen on this - but ok then - life's an adventure and all that....

What I am really not happy about is leaving my cats alone for a whole week straight. QT is away as well, and my friends are too far away.
I am leaving a window open, bowls and bowls of food and water and I am praying that they stay safe while I am gone.
I also have a feeling that my pretty Gerbera daisy plant, both orchids and Bonsai seedlings are going to be dead :-(

I arrive back on Saturday morning - just in time to begin my Adobe Photoshop course beginning on Monday and every Monday and Wednesday evening until middle November.

29 October - off I jetset to Durban for another of annual congresses.

I need a holiday... with lots of sun and cocktails

Day 08 → Someone who made your life hell, or treated you like shit.

HvE

That woman was a living nightmare

When I started my PA position she trained me, and critisized me... every single day.
I hated her and hated my job.
Then when I started settling in, she was jealous that people liked me, and set out to point out every little thing she did not feel that I was doing correctly (in her eyes)

When I changed positions I was told by my boss and a few others that I was the best PA he ever had.... and HvE is no longer with the company due to too many mistakes.
Need I say more?

Day 07 → Someone who has made your life worth living for

My Parents

They are the reason I am here.

Without my parents support and love - I have no idea where I would be or what kind of person I would be.

My parents gave up a lot for us when we were growing up. I remember times when we were so poor that we had a generator for electricity and an outhouse toilet.

My dad worked tirelessly and when we were older my mom also started working again.

They are everything to me, and I live to make them proud of me.
