Joining the "ings"

I love questionnaires - I stole this from Claudz

Making : Myself fat by not going to gym when I know I should

Cooking : Toast for dinner - does that count?

Drinking : Coffee and Iced Tea

Reading: Info on Ireland and the UK to plan a holiday in 2014

Wanting: To be more relaxed

Looking: for ways to save as much money as I can.

Playing: With my cat

Wasting: Time. I should get to the shops for groceries before they close, but can't get the energy to get up and go.

Sewing: Nothing!

Wishing: I was getting more action.

Enjoying: Greek yoghurt with black cherries

Waiting: for my holiday to Mauritius (where I will be when you are reading this)

Liking: My sinful little secret

Wondering: If next year is going to be easier

Hoping: I meet someone soon

Marvelling: At how easily moral lines can be crossed

Needing: Lunch - I am hungry

Loving: This beautiful weather

Smelling: The cherries in my yoghurt

Wearing: My PJs - white top and grey bottoms with black kitty cat faces

Following: My Heart - it knows what is good for my soul

Noticing: That I hunch my shoulders when I am stressed and that is what is causing my pain

Knowing: I am becoming less tolerant as I get older

Thinking: About my delicious, sinful secret - which will never come out in case you are wondering

Feeling: Lazy

Bookmarking: Irish holidays and London hotels

Opening: Blogger windows to catch up on some posts

Giggling: At a Whatsapp conversation. Ice Cream and Baking - totally not in the correct context at all.

SA vs NZ

It's not everyday a person gets to watch an international rugby game between 2 of the best teams in the world.
I was lucky enough to be given a free ticket by a supplier and joined some incentive winners and management.

I have always wanted to watch SA play NZ and I was not disappointed.

What a game!

The atmosphere was unbelievable. 3 planes flew overhead and I was so busy cheering I didn't get a single photo!

The great thing about being at a live game is that there is always a wise-ass in the crowd. Our guy was a serious rugby fan and was cracking the comments the entire time and had us all laughing.

At least this time the referee was fair and we have nothing/no-one to blame but ourselves.

New Zealand simply outplayed us.

Travel Tuesday - Mozambique

Flamingo Bay, Inhambane - Mozambique

While I am lying on the beach sipping cocktails in Mauritius, I thought a Beach holiday would be the perfect Travel Tuesday post for today. (Cruel? I know)

Home Sweet Home
In November 2008 Alex and I took a romantic holiday to Mozambique.

We stayed at a place called Flamingo Bay Lodge - literally little houses on stilts in the water.
When the tide was high, we could walk from our patio, down some stairs and have a swim.

There were golf cart shuttles that drove up those little ramps you see in the photo and collected guests every now and then if you didn't feel like the walk to the restaurant and main building.
Our back-yard swimming pool

As per holiday tradition, Day 1: Me and my luminescent white skin got sunburnt in really random places while on a speedboat to go snorkelling. (The sunblock was rubbed off in some parts by the splashing water)
Ouchy

To even it out - I had to tan the parts that weren't burnt and this was the result:

Not very sexy am I?

Mozambique is 1 of my favourite holidays simply because it is not far away from South Africa and the beauty is unspoiled.

The sunsets are amazing and every night before dinner, Alex and I took a self-portrait to document our holiday.
You can tell how relaxed and in love I am here - who knew that my heart would be broken 3 months later?

At least I have these amazing memories!

Manicure Monday - Tape Nail Art

This is another easy manicure to do - all you need is a bit of sticky-tape.

I couldn't decide which colour combination to use - this is what I love about all these posts I have done over the past few weeks - the combinations are endless.

I cannot wait to go back and revisit all the designs with different colour combos! :-)

Today's nail-art was fairly easy when I got the hang of cutting the tape into little triangles.

Pink base: OPI All Kendall-ed Up. Top colour: Essie Chinchilly

What you need:
Sticky tape
Scissors to cut tape
2 colours - 1 base, 1 top colour
1 Topcoat

  1. Paint your nails with 2 coats of the lighter colour. Allow to dry very well. (Choose the lighter colour as the base because your last coat is only 1 coat and if it is lighter than the base, the underneath colour shines through - I learnt this after swapping the colour combos on my other hand.)
  2. Cut sticky tape into long, skinny triangles and stick to each nail on the 1 hand (You don't want to let the tape stick onto your nail for too long, it leaves traces of glue behind.)
  3. Paint 1 coat of the darker colour over your nails.
  4. Peel the tape off before the polish becomes tacky - otherwise it makes  "melted cheese off a pizza" strands.
  5. Repeat on the other hand.
  6. Finish off with a top coat to give the nail a smooth finish
