Birthday Party for Zomato

It's been a long time since I was at an actual party.
Live band and DJ, catered food and free drinks with a spectacular dessert table.

Tomato recently celebrated their 7th birthday party at their offices and we had an absolute blast.

Give us some props and watch us all act the fools! There was a camera crew there and while interviews were being conducted, we all took turns to camera-bomb. The videographer called us all camera-whores. He has seen it all I guess!

I was walking around looking for someone, when I saw a group of people taking photos - so I casually bombed the photo - I wish I could be there when they see it!

As I have mentioned in previous posts - these are some of the awesome people I am meeting on my foodie journeys.

Jade and I are fast becoming #FoodieFriends and we seem to have a ton of stuff in common, except for the fact that she goes to the gym ... and I don't!

Claudz is the reason I joined Zomato - I will always be grateful to her for introducing me to the foodie world - and she will be the person I blame because my clothes don't fit me anymore! :-D

Dani is a new friend I have met - we have an agreement whereby we are not allowed judging each other for music tastes (she is a Swiftie, I am a Directioner)

Thank you to Zomato for having us, I really had a wonderful time!

{Blogger Chit Chat} With Claudz & Chantelle - Part Two

With Claudz & Chantelle

Last week Claudz & I kicked off our #BloggerChitChat Series.

We ask each other questions to find out lesser known facts about each other.
We have had games nights and dinners and many glasses of wine together, but it is always the deeper, more serious questions we never ask each other.

For instance, I know that Claudine is great at making quick decisions when faced with a kitchen ingredient dilemma (What to do when J buys Phyllo pastry instead of the puff pastry we needed for our pin wheels)

She has this wonderful knack with making her house feel like a cosy home & is a fun hostess.

Read more about her below and make sure you follow her on social media for all things cat (Thomas), dog (Max) & food.

{Blogger Chit Chat} With Claudz & Chantelle - Part One

With Claudz & Chantelle

Claudz & I have been talking about doing this Blogger Chit Chat for over a year. But what happens when you give 2 busy multitasking Geminis something to do... it gets thought about, but never quite done.

Claudz and I met through blogging and went from being online friends, to friends in real life.

Find out more about her by visiting her blogs here:

12 Days of Christmas - Day 4 {Drinks}

Eat, Drink & Be Merry!

A delicious drink can go a long way in helping you remain merry.

Bubbly Claudz shares her favourite Christmas drink recipe with us (it has one of my favourite ingredients in it, so I will definitely be making this one!)

Bottoms Up!

It's the silly season and one of the things I love most is the excuse to indulge....a lot! I love a good cocktail and I love custard. That's why this Iced Eggnog suits me perfectly. The creamy booziness just sets the holiday tone. And because we live in sunny South Africa, having it cold is even better.

Make a batch before your Christmas party (it can stand happily for 24 hours) or whip it up last minute - the choice is yours. I've added Amarula to give it that uniquely South African flavour but this is optional.
This recipe services 4-6 people but I recommend doubling up if you're expecting a crowd. It is rich so don't make too much (is there such a thing?)

Iced Eggnog with Amarula

200ml sugar
200ml water
3 cinnamon quills (or 2 tsps. of ground cinnamon
3 eggs
250ml pouring cream
250ml milk
150ml brandy
150ml rum
150ml Amarula
cinnamon for dusting (you can also use nutmeg)
ice cubes

Make a sugar syrup by combining the sugar, water and cinnamon quills in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir gently until the sugar melt then allow to simmer for 1 minute and remove from the heat. Allow to cool and remove the cinnamon quills (if you used ground cinnamon make sure you give it a good stir).
Using a hand blender (or your muscle power), whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, brandy, rum, Amarula and the sugar syrup.
Add ice to your preferred cocktail glasses and pour the eggnog mix.
Serve with a dusting of cinnamon or nutmeg.
If you're not going to serve immediately, refrigerate the eggnog until required.

Happy holidays!

(PS - this Eggnog is only for those over 18 and it's not recommended that you drive if you're planning on having a few!)
Tell us what you like to drink over the Festive season & if you do make this eggnog, take a photo and tag us on Twitter or Instagram.

We all need some SUNSHINE in our lives!

The lovely Johlet of Our Journey to Everywhere awarded me with the beautiful Sunshine Award.

I met Johlet through my friend Claudz when Johlet started planning to JHB Blogger Meet-up taking place on 9 November. Her and I share a love of travel, so I am looking forward to meeting her in real life... along with all the other lovely ladies out there.

There are a few simple rules for the Sunshine Award:

Include award logo in or on your blog post.
Link to the person who nominated you.
Answer 10 questions about yourself.
Nominate other bloggers to give this award to.

1. If you won a million dollars (let’s say R 10 million for our South African bloggers), what would be the first thing you would buy and why?
I would buy a house for my parents closer to me and in a safer area.

Then:
  1. I would buy a huge farm to house all the abused and neglected animals. I would pay staff to look after them and I would work there as well.
  2. I would put money aside for my nephew's education
  3. Plan a round the world holiday for myself and my friends
  4. Buy my brother & his wife a house

2. Do you have any pets and if so, what are they? And their names?
I have 1 cat. A beautiful boy named Squeaky (real name is Galileo)

3. Who is your favourite beauty guru and why?
Mmmh I am not really into the whole beauty thing... I would like to go see Bobbi Brown to get her to teach me how to do make-up nicely... and love doing it.

4. What kind of blog posts do you like to write the most?
Travel posts. I love looking back through my photographs and re-living the memories.

5. Name a few of your favourite bloggers and what you like about their blog.
  • Kate from The Cow Jumped Over the Moon. I have said it many times... Kate is a lady. She is real. Kate is gorgeous without realising it and hilariously funny. And her blog name is really cool
  • Claudz from Purple Lips and Perfect Smiles. Being a fellow Gemini, wine lover & cradle snatcher, Claudz seems to write about many things that are relevant to my life. I feel like she 'gets' me. Claudz started out as a bloging friend and has become a real life friend, making her very special indeed.
  • Gae from Heart Of Iron. This is an inspirational lady of note! Driven, courageous and with such a positive outlook on life, you cannot help but feel inspired.
  • Megan from Meghan Silva's Lifestyle Blog Meghan's blog is a wonderful mix of fashion, make-up and real life (lifestyle) and I love that she caters for every person's interests. Meghan is the perfect example of what a blogger should be: Varied content, regular poster, Wise words. (She puts me to shame! I can't only aspire to be as dedicated as her 1 day!)

6. If you could take a 2 week vacation to anywhere in the world, where would you go, and who would you take with you?
I would take my boyfriend, or my mom, as she has never been overseas before.
With BF: Machu Picchu
Mom: Italy

7. If you could only wear one brand of makeup for the rest of your life, what would it be?
MAC

8. Describe your favourite casual outfit?
My coloured jeans, some pretty flip flops and a strappy top layered under a pretty top (chiffon, lace etc)

9. What is your favourite holiday?
I love relaxing-on-the-beach-sipping-cocktails but I also love "tourist" holidays - exploring the cities of a different city every few days.

10. What TV series are you looking forward to watching?
The new series of Suits and Dexter

I nominate the following bloggers:

The Cow Jumped Over the Moon
Purple Lips and Perfect Smiles
Heart of Iron
Meghan Silva's Lifestyle Blog

Join in the fun and let me know who you have nominated.
