Travel Tuesday: Germany

The first country I ever experienced snow. I can still remember arriving at our little wooden cabin and chucking the cases inside so that we could come back outside and experience the feeling of snow crunching under our feet.
We stayed in a small town called St. Goar

Crunchy Snow

The German folk were extremely friendly and more than happy to offer advice to the newbie tourists.

Loreley Rock
In summer there are boat tours and you get to see the famous Loreley Rock.
In early times, it was reported that many ships sank here.
Apparently it was due to a pretty, naked, blonde woman, who distracted the skippers from their work through her songs.
Fickle men!

I bought my cuckoo clock after many agonising minutes spent choosing the right one.

Gorgeous Beer Steins. I bought 1 for my dad and my friend Grant.
Years later I had forgotten about it and complimented his gorgeous Stein one night over dinner! At least I know I have the same taste all these years later!

Wine-tasting in the cellar

Can you tell I am at a wine-tasting? The rosy cheeks and broad grin are not a giveaway sign at all!

I actually still have that wine-tasting glass....

Greetings...

From Cologne!

Firstly I am not sure which fact is going to make you more jealous: the fact that I am:

1: in Koln (Cologne) Germany or
2: that I am typing is entry from my iPad!

I have been in Koln for 3 days now and I am having a blast (besides the fact that I have realized that I have even less sense of direction than I thought) I have been hopelessly lost dozens of times and I have literally worn holes in my shoes from all the walking, yet I am still loving it.

I have missed having my link to cyberworld! Especially Facebook and my friends on BBM. Now I am in a different hotel where my bosses will all be joining me so I have wifi (woo hoo)

This trip has not been without its troubles:

I flew to Cologne via Munich- on the connecting flight your baggage is supposed to be go to your final destination, but luckily I checked my baggage ticket because it said final stop was Munich.
Upon querying this in Munich I was told (very condescendingly) that my bag would be in Cologne waiting for me. When I argued I was eventually led to baggage claim- where my bag came rolling out!
Checked it in to Cologne and we were off

Arriving in Cologne I dropped my bag and started sightseeing - halfway through my camera battery died. That night, my Blackberry decided to follow suit and has since stopped letting me type the letter 'e'
I type an SMS to Tee which goes someone like this:
Hi thr having a gr8 tim. My abcd(this 1)fgh button dosnt work! Wish you wr hr!

At least I was able to charge my camera battery and I have some stunning photos which I can't wait to show you.

Our congress starts tomorrow, so I am not looking forward to getting back to work. I forgot how much fun this touristy thing is, I just adore sightseeing!

When I am back I will update you more with the diary entries I have been typing.
